A Letter from the Parents' Chair
Dear Parents,
First off, thank you for taking the time to gather information about the organization your son is considering joining. We hope that your visit to our website allows you a glimpse of who we are as a social and service fraternity. The Arizona Chapter of Delta Chi is a fraternity at The University of Arizona. We are proud of all we have to offer to the young men of The University. Since 1925, the chapter has fostered a bond that is unique in a university community numbering over 35,000 students. Members enjoy a number of benefits that can serve as a "safety net" ensuring an enjoyable and productive college experience. A member's involvement in our chapter can be divided up into three stages: Associate Member, Active Member, and Alumni.
Associate Member
As an Associate Member, your son will begin to learn about what it means to be a member of a tightly
knit community. Our new member program lasts six weeks during the fall or spring semesters. During this time, the associate member learns about the Delta Chi Fraternity; its history, its traditions, and its ritual. Academics are stressed as the foundation for membership. We believe that first and foremost, we are at The University of Arizona to be students. As a commitment to this ideal, associate members are required to attend study hours at an on-campus library Monday through Thursday
for three hours each evening. (This is by far the largest time commitment that an associate member will experience.) Additionally, the chapter Scholarship Chairman maintains contact with each member and arranges for additional academic assistance if needed (tutoring, extra study hours, etc.) Often, members find that their highest semester GPA was achieved during their pledge semester. Associate Members are also invited and encouraged to participate in the activities of the active chapter: social functions, intramural athletic teams, university interfraternal events, and chapter alumni events.
Active Member As an Active Member, the brothers take responsibility for the day to day operations of the fraternity. Every semester, leaders are elected from the body to take on roles such as President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer, Sergeant at Arms, and Alumni elations, or to chair committees such as Rush, Social, Scholarship, New Member Education, Public Relations, Philanthropy, etc.
Alumni Graduation does not mark the end of a member's involvement in the chapter. The Arizona Chapter is proud to have a strong and active alumni base, of over 1600 alumni that provides leadership and guidance to the chapter. Graduated members may get involved in chapter activities either
through participation in the Alumni Board of Trustees or the Arizona Chapter
Housing Corporation. Additionally, the chapter promotes monthly events in
Los Angeles and Phoenix, and hosts bi-annual Alumni Weekends in Tucson. Visit the Alumni page for a better feel of what is means to be a Delta Chi Alumnus. We hope that this answers some of the question you
might have about what it means to join our organization. Please, if you have
any further questions, do not hesitate to contact me or any other chapter
officer.
Sincerely, ... Parent's Association
